EU Expresses Readiness to Invest in Developing Economic and Transport Corridors of Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 29.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – In Brussels, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda met with the Advisor to the Director General of International Cooperation of the European Union Commission Henrik Hololei.
The meeting focused on the development of economic and transport corridors of Tajikistan, Central Asia in general and regional integration.
The Minister provided detailed information on the achievements of Tajikistan in the field of economy and trade, the development of multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU and called on the EU to finance the development of priority sectors, including economic and transport corridors, energy, especially the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power plant, «green» economy, digitalization, construction of logistics and transport corridors with the aim of accessing seaports.
In turn, Hololei noted that the Central Asian region is of great importance for the EU’s Global Gateway initiative with the aim of connecting the Central Asian region with Europe, and the EU is ready to invest in the development of economic and transport corridors of Tajikistan and Central Asia.
It was also informed that the first investment forum of Central Asia and the European Union will take place at the end of January 2024, which will provide ample opportunities to attract the attention of European investors to the Central Asian region. Tajikistan is invited to take an active part in it and provide its numerous opportunities to European investors.
