Tajik Representative attends International Day of Clean Energy

DUSHANBE, 24.01.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On January 23, 2025, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations, Jonibek Hikmat, participated and delivered a speech at a special event commemorating the celebration of the International Day of Clean Energy.
In his speech, Mr. J. Hikmat emphasized the critical role of renewable energy in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) and tackling climate change.
He underscored the need to strengthen international cooperation to ensure access to sustainable energy, particularly for vulnerable communities.
During his presentation, J Hikmat highlighted Tajikistan’s position as a global leader in renewable energy production, noting that more than 98% of the country’s electricity is generated from hydropower sources.
He also provided detailed information on Tajikistan’s renewable energy potential and the implementation of strategic national projects, including the Rogun Hydropower Plant (HPP) and the CASA-1000 transmission line, which aim to benefit the Central and South Asian region.
The Permanent Representative further stressed the importance of increasing investment in green energy infrastructure, fostering technology transfer, and building national capacities to promote the sustainable development of renewable energy.
