Tajikistan Explores Hosting a Future Green Climate Fund Board Meeting

DUSHANBE, 03.06.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – The Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Bahodur Sheralizoda, held a meeting in Dushanbe with Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), during her visit to participate in the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
The discussions focused on strengthening the partnership between Tajikistan and the Green Climate Fund, including updates on the current project portfolio and implementation of the Fund’s Country Programme in Tajikistan.
Both sides emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation between Tajikistan’s National Designated Authority and the Fund’s departments to enhance the country’s climate resilience.
Notably, the parties explored the possibility of holding a future GCF Board meeting in Tajikistan, underscoring the country’s commitment and leadership in global climate action and sustainable development.
The Green Climate Fund is the world’s largest dedicated climate fund, established to support developing countries in mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
