A consortium of Hitachi Energy (Sweden) and Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios S.A. (Spain) will provide technical maintenance for the converter substations of the CASA-1000 regional power transmission project in Sangtuda and Nowshera until May 2028, the press center of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.

The decision followed a high-level dialogue on the implementation of the CASA-1000 project that began March 10 in Ludvika.

The agreement is expected to ensure maintenance and stable operation of key project infrastructure and create favorable conditions for completing the direct current transmission line in Afghanistan, scheduled for 2027. Once completed, the CASA-1000 infrastructure will be fully connected to the grid.

Of the four participating countries, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan have already completed construction of their facilities. Work on the DC transmission line in Afghanistan is expected to be finished by 2027.
