Sergio Gor: “President Trump Highly Appreciates President Emomali Rahmon’s Contribution to Stability in Tajikistan and the Region”

DUSHANBE, 28.04.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – “The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, highly appreciates the contribution of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to ensuring stability in Tajikistan and the region,” stated the Special Envoy of the President of the United States for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, during a briefing following the meeting.
It was noted that the delegation of the United States of America is in Dushanbe on an official two-day visit, during which several important meetings have taken place, including a productive meeting with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.
According to Sergio Gor, Tajikistan and the United States share common interests, particularly in the areas of counterterrorism and responding to external threats. These issues were discussed during the meeting with President Emomali Rahmon.
The parties also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in ensuring the security of both states.
The issue of opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation was also discussed. It was emphasized that favorable conditions exist for expanding cooperation between the business communities of the two countries and for implementing joint projects.
Sergio Gor stated that the Republic of Tajikistan remains at the center of the United States’ attention, and that both sides are interested in strengthening cooperation, especially in the economic sector.
It was also noted that the United States is paying increased attention to expanding relations with the countries of the region, including Tajikistan, and that the meeting of the leaders of the two countries in Washington was regarded as an important step in the development of bilateral relations.
“The parties expressed readiness to continue strengthening relations and to elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level,” concluded the Special Envoy of the President of the United States for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor.
