Tajikistan’s industrial sector creates 1,160 new jobs in first half of 2026

DUSHANBE, July 23, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) – A total of 191 new industrial enterprises were commissioned in Tajikistan during the first six months of 2026, creating 1,160 new jobs, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda said at a press conference on July 20.

According to the Minister, 65 enterprises were launched in Sughd Province, creating 453 jobs; 46 enterprises in Khatlon Province with 414 jobs; 28 enterprises in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province with 85 jobs; 22 enterprises in Dushanbe with 114 jobs; and 30 enterprises in cities and districts under central jurisdiction with 94 jobs.

Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda noted that industrial growth was driven by a 26% increase in manufacturing output, a 16.8% rise in electricity, gas, steam supply and air conditioning, as well as a 29.7% increase in water supply, sanitation, waste management and recycling.

He added that as part of the implementation of the five-year industrial development programme, 400 manufacturing enterprises were launched across the country in 2025. Their contribution has been significant in creating new jobs, increasing industrial production and exports, and supporting Tajikistan’s transition from an agrarian economy to an industrial-agrarian country.
