Tajikistan’s Gulzoda Attends OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s 24th Autumn Meeting

Mahmadshoh Gulzoda, a member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and head of the country’s parliamentary delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, participated in the assembly’s 24th Autumn Meeting, the Majlisi Namoyandagon told NIAT Khovar.
The meeting was held in Andorra and brought together more than 170 parliamentarians from 49 OSCE member states. Discussions focused on upholding international commitments amid geopolitical tensions, strengthening energy security, countering cyber and hybrid threats, and addressing challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI).
Participants highlighted the need to protect critical infrastructure, reduce strategic dependencies and ensure reliable access to energy resources. They also emphasized protecting children and other vulnerable groups from online exploitation, disinformation and cybercrime, while promoting digital literacy and safeguarding personal privacy and fundamental rights.
In his address, Gulzoda outlined Tajikistan’s position on the responsible use of AI, the protection of human rights and personal data, and the prevention of discrimination in the digital environment.
He also highlighted Tajikistan’s efforts to advance international initiatives on AI and sustainable development. At the country’s initiative, the U.N. General Assembly adopted a resolution on the role of AI in creating new opportunities for sustainable development in Central Asia. Tajikistan’s initiative to designate Aug. 31 as the International Day of Safe, Secure and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence was also noted.
Gulzoda further underscored the importance of international cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism, cybercrime and other cross-border threats. In this regard, the Dushanbe Process on Countering Terrorism and Its Financing was highlighted as an important framework for international cooperation.
The high-level international conference on counterterrorism scheduled to take place in Dushanbe in 2027 is expected to provide an additional platform for strengthening international coordination and joint efforts to address emerging security challenges
