Barno Saidvalizoda, chair of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Policy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, the lower house of Tajikistan’s parliament, participated in the opening ceremony of the Global Women Parliamentarians Forum in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the Majlisi Namoyandagon told Khovar.
Tajikistan places great importance on friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with Mongolia, viewing stronger inter-parliamentary ties and expanded cooperation between the two countries’ legislatures as key to building mutual trust and a long-term partnership.
Addressing gender equality, the forum highlighted measures being implemented under the leadership of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to strengthen women’s roles in public administration, the economy, education, science, culture and social life. Protecting women’s rights, ensuring equal opportunities and increasing their participation in decision-making remain key priorities of the country’s social policy.
The address also emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in addressing global challenges, preventing conflicts and promoting dialogue. Women should serve not only as participants in peace processes but also as negotiators, mediators and active advocates for peace on the international stage.
Particular attention was given to Rahmon’s initiative to declare 2027-2036 the International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations. The initiative seeks to mobilize the international community to prevent conflicts, build trust among states and establish the foundations for lasting peace.
The forum also underscored the United Nations’ role in advancing international peace and security, noting that achieving the decade’s objectives will require closer cooperation among states, international organizations and parliamentary bodies.
A high-level international conference marking the launch of the International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations is scheduled to be held in Dushanbe in June 2027. Tajikistan welcomes the participation of women parliamentarians, representatives of parliamentary committees and international women’s networks in the event.
