Minister of Health represents Tajikistan at 69th session of World Health Assembly in Geneva
Dushanbe, 23.05.2016 / NIAT “Khovar” /. Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Nusratullo Salimzoda and head of the medical and pharmaceutical education, personnel policy and science Salomiddin Yusuf will represent the Tajikistan delegation at the 69th session of the World Health Assembly, which will open Monday in Geneva, Switzerland, said today the Health Ministry in a statement.
The WHA is the supreme governing body of the World Health Organization (WHO), representing 194 countries. It brings together WHO Member States to address global health issues. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed program budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.
As the world looks to 2030, and prepares to meet the challenges of an ambitious set of Sustainable Development Goals, WHO is developing three global health sector strategies to cover: HIV/AIDS — viral hepatitis — sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The strategies will cover 2016-2021 and will be finalized for consideration by the 69th World Health Assembly in 2016.
