Tajikistan and Pakistan became partners in strategic studies
DUSHANBE, 27.08.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Khudoberdi Kholiqnazar, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, President of the Center for Global and Strategic Studies of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
“Throughout the year, we have been cooperating with the Tajikistan Center for Strategic Studies and noticed that it is one of the active, competent and prestigious state institutions of Tajikistan. The Center has extensive experience in conducting studies and statistical works, preparing analytical materials and strategies. It turned out that we have much in common, we can share our experience in all areas of our activities”, — noted Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, President of Pakistan Center for Global and Strategic Studies.
The parties considered priority areas for cooperation of mutual interest.
Regional and information security, combating modern threats, trade and economic sector, medicine, agriculture, as well as cultural interaction are named as priority areas for cooperation.
The guests were informed about the activities of Tajikistan Center for Strategic Studies, which successfully cooperates with relevant organizations, both in the region and abroad.
Talking about cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, it was noted that the Republic of Tajikistan annually carries out trade with more than 110 countries. In particular, Tajikistan maintains close trade and economic relations with Pakistan, and last year the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $ 41 million.
Following the meeting it was noted that the well-known Pakistani writer and journalist Ghulam Akbar, who also attended the meeting of both institutions leadership and signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation, intends to write a book on the history of Tajik-Pakistani cooperation and current relations. The book will be prepared in the coming years, and it is planned to be published in 4 languages: Russian, Tajik, Urdu and English.
