Over 640 Tajik Athletes Took Part In International Sports Competitions In 2018
DUSHANBE, 12.02.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Over 640 Tajik athletes took part in 146 international sports competitions in 2018. Of them 66 were women and girls, reported the Chairman of the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports Ahtam Abdullozoda at a press conference today in Dushanbe.
“More than 2.7 million somoni was spent on their participation in the international competitions in 2018. In this period, athletes won 467 medals of which 151 were gold. That’s 42 more medals than in 2017. Additionally, 136 of the total number of medals are from Olympic sports,” Abdullozoda stated.
“Over 230 Tajik athletes took part in 18 training camps. More than 201,000 somoni was spent to prepare them for the international competitions,” Abdullozoda explained.
