Dushanbe Hosts Meeting of the Eurasia Coordination Council and the Coordination Group
DUSHANBE, 26.04.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The 36th meeting of the Eurasia Coordination Council and the Coordination Group began yesterday in Dushanbe and will continue through today.
The priorities of the meeting, in addition to individual reports, included discussions of statutory documents, creation of the International Air Navigation Service (IANS) Vostok, strengthening cooperation and other topics.
Foreign representatives and more than 80 specialists from various branches of the air navigation industry participated in the meeting which aims to bring the activities of relevant air navigation structures in line with modern requirements, open new lines, provide alternative airways for the intersection of mutual airspace and to exchange international experience.
“The meeting will consider the issues of ensuring flight safety and expanding cooperation in the field of civil aviation in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and appropriate decisions will be made regarding them,” said the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan Ikrom Subhonzoda in his opening speech.
The Eurasia Coordinating Council was established in 1999 by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia to implement the Concept for the Coordination of National Systems of Air Flight Management of the CIS Member States, which was adopted by the Heads of the Council’s member states. Its activities focus on improving the efficiency of solution implementation to air traffic management problems and developing coordinated proposals for national aviation administrations on state regulation in the field of air traffic management.
Belarus, Azerbaijan and Armenia were later accepted as permanent members. The largest manufacturers of air navigation equipment and industry training centers of Russia, Europe, the United States, the Interstate Aviation Committee and the International Air Transport Association are permanent observers of the Council.
