Dushanbe Hosted the Meeting of the Working Groups of the Tajik-Afghan Intergovernmental Commission
DUSHANBE, 05.07.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, a working groups meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission of Tajikistan and Afghanistan on Trade, Economic, Social and Technical Cooperation was held in Dushanbe.
The meeting focused on the issues relating to bilateral cooperation in the areas of standardization, energy, water, oil and gas, emergency prevention, environmental protection, industry, transportation, culture, education, health and social protection.
Members of commission are expected to sign a protocol on the issues discussed during the meeting.
Afghanistan remains one of the main export partners of Tajikistan. The trade turnover between the countries in the first quarter of 2019 amounted to $35.5 million and exports from Tajikistan to Afghanistan reached $35.47 million. Exports surpassed imports, which reached only $32,000, according to the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan.
