New Law Expected to Improve Insurance Market Significantly

DUSHANBE, 20.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Compared to other countries, the insurance sector in Tajikistan lags behind, but all the necessary measures for improvement are being taken. This was announced today at a press conference by the Tajik Insurance First Deputy General Director Abdullo Abdulloev.
According to him, the situation will improve after the adoption of the new law On Civil Insurance Liability, which is under consideration by the government.
“In recent years, the insurance market in Tajikistan has improved drastically. If a few years ago there were only three insurance companies, today there are over 20. If in 2000 there were 25 million somoni of insurance payments, in 2017 this amount reached 65 million somoni,» Abdulloev said.
In last six months, the amount of general insurance amounted to 13.9 million somoni, of which 3.8 million somoni were from compulsory insurance and 10.1 — voluntary.
