DUSHANBE, 27.07.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The two-day fourth Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2021) is coming to an end in Dushanbe.
Due to the pandemic, the conference is being held in a mixed format — online and offline.
The main theme of the conference is the integration of efforts of the region’s countries to prevent an increase in the average global temperature by more than 1.5 ° C.
The participants discussed climate strategies developed at the national level, as well as the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement and financing of projects to protect the environment.
According to the participants, emissions into the atmosphere worsen the climatic situation. The transition to electric transport and clean energy sources will help to resolve this issue.
“The problem of our impact on the environment and the related responses of nature to our actions require our own response to them. And the most important thing is adaptation to the processes that are taking place. We need to look for adaptation mechanisms, to adapt them to the conditions of the Central Asian countries. Implement them in order to mitigate all the consequences that occur today with environmental changes,” a member of the Board of Governors of the Central Asian Regional Environmental Center, Chairman of the Association of Hunters of Tajikistan said Alikhon Latifi in an interview with the MIR-24 TV channel.
The CACCC-2021 was organized by the Committee for Environmental Protection of Tajikistan and the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) in collaboration with government of Tajikistan.
The Dushanbe conference is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the start of CAREC activities.
