Tajik Judoka Majidov Ranks Seventh Place in the Zagreb Grand Prix 2022

DUSHANBE, 18.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajik judoka Jahongir Majidov competed in the weight category up to 90 kg at the Zagreb Grand Prix 2022, which was held in Croatia from July 15 through July 17, and took seventh place, reports the National Olympic Committee.
Tajikistan was represented by seven athletes, including Muhammad Mahmadizoda, Muhammadsoleh Kuvvatov (-60 kg), Shahboz Saidburorov, Alijon Safaraliev (-66 kg), Navruz Karimzod (-73 kg), Shodmon Rizoev (-81 kg), and Jahongir Majidov (-90 kg).
Among the participants, Majidov showed the best result. He started the competition from the second round and won against Aleksey Zarudnevs from Latvia. In the third round he defeated the Serbian judoka Nemanja Maidov, but in the quarterfinals lost to the Brazilian athlete Rafael Macedo.
In a repechage match, he lost to the representative of the Netherlands Noel Vant Ende and finished seventh.
