DUSHANBE, 02.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Istiklol beat Ravshan in the final match of the 2023 Tajikistan Cup and became a ten-time holder of the trophy.

Previously, Istiklol won the National Cup in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2022.

The match was held on November 1 at the Kulyab Arena stadium. The main time of the match ended in a draw — 0:0. In extra time the teams exchanged goals – 1:1. The Dushanbe team responded to the goal of Ravshan’s Ghanaian legionnaire Joseph Akomadi with a precise shot from central defender Sodikjon Kurbonov.

In the penalty shootout, Istiklol was successful – 4:2. Dushanbe goalkeeper Rustam Yatimov saved a penalty kick by Ravshan goalkeeper Evgeniy Gritsenko and was eventually recognized as the best player of the final.
