DUSHANBE, 10.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – The Spekaer of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe, President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali suggested that the United Nations recognize the role of football at the global level and officially announce World Football Day through the adoption of a special resolution of the General Assembly.

Rustam Emomali, in his proposal to the UN, in particular, emphasized:

“It is well known that sport in a human life is among the best ways to ensure physical well-being and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, as well as an essential means of connecting diverse peoples and nations. People all around the world have been engaged in football for over 150 years, and this game, from the time of its inception to the present day, carries a mission and a goal that brings people together. Today, even in the smallest countries of the world, people are engaged in football, meaning football as a product of the human creativity transforming from being just a mere game into a unifying force for humanity. It is known that football is popular as a sport in some countries, but it is not just a game. This type of sport is the manifestation of universal culture, which over crosses national borders, language barriers and socio-economic differences. This is a sport that unites the world and speaks with a universal language understood by everyone, meaning that from the streets full of fans of major cities to the remote villages of the world people know and play football. In this regard, I suggest that the role of football to be recognized at the global level and UN GA officially proclaims World Football Day through a special resolution of the UN GA.»
