Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Discuss Joint Production of Cars

DUSHANBE, 12.03.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On March 10, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda met with the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov.
The meeting focused on issues related to preparation for the next meeting of the Tajik and Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Also, it was held an exchange of views on the expansion of trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of priority investment projects, including the joint production of cars in Tajikistan and the establishment of tire production on the basis of TALCO OJSC for the needs of the automotive industry of Uzbekistan, as well as the joint construction of two hydroelectric power stations on the Zarafshon River.
It was noted that in 2023, the volume of mutual foreign trade amounted to over $500 million. Uzbekistan with a share of 6.1% was in 5th place in the structure of foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan.
The parties also expressed their readiness to establish mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the issues noted.
