Tajikistan–Uzbekistan Commission Meeting Focuses on Expanding Economic Cooperation

On February 17, the 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan was held in Dushanbe with the participation of Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda and Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Khovar reports.
The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, industry, agriculture, transport, customs, education, and culture. The sides noted that constructive policies and strong political will have significantly advanced bilateral relations, with both nations maintaining ties grounded in friendship, mutual respect, and alliance.
Trade turnover between the countries reached $718.3 million in 2025 — a 22.5 percent increase compared to 2024 — and the parties agreed to work toward raising mutual trade to $2 billion. Strengthening industrial cooperation was identified as a priority area.
Following the meeting, a Protocol on Joint Activities of the Intergovernmental Commission was signed.
During the visit, the prime ministers also toured the Gayur-Pak polypropylene bag manufacturing plant and the Gayur Korea Technology LED lighting production facility. Gayur-Pak has an annual capacity of 50 million polypropylene bags, while Gayur Korea Technology produces over 100 types of lighting products with a yearly capacity of 1.2 million units, primarily for the domestic market.
