Rivers and glaciers across Central Asia connect countries through shared water resources and common environmental and social challenges.
Effective management of transboundary waters is critical to economic growth, food and energy security, and climate adaptation, according to the Dushanbe Water Process Secretariat.
The upcoming 4th Dushanbe Conference on the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development,” will offer a platform for countries in the region to present priorities, exchange experience and discuss joint initiatives.
Organizers say the conference will support regional cooperation and help position Central Asia as an active player in the global water agenda, while contributing to preparations for the 2026 U.N. Water Conference, where transboundary cooperation is expected to be a key focus.
