The expansion of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and the advancement of renewable energy projects were at the center of talks in Dushanbe between Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, and a delegation from China’s Guangdong Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., according to NIAT “Khovar,” citing the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
The discussions focused on broadening collaboration in energy development, with particular emphasis on the implementation of renewable energy initiatives across Tajikistan.
The meeting comes shortly after President Emomali Rahmon’s engagement with leaders and representatives of Chinese companies during a high-level gathering held on May 11 in Beijing, where several cooperation documents were signed aimed at attracting investment into Tajikistan’s energy sector.
Among them was a Memorandum of Understanding between Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources and Guangdong Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., outlining cooperation in the development and investment of renewable energy projects. The agreement prioritizes the expansion of “green” energy initiatives, increased use of renewable resources, and the attraction of foreign investment into the country’s energy infrastructure.
In a separate arrangement, the Ministry also signed a memorandum with Watchman Group PTE Ltd. to explore the feasibility of constructing wind power plants in the Sughd region.
Officials say these initiatives are expected to strengthen the country’s renewable energy base, diversify electricity generation sources, and support the introduction of modern technologies in Tajikistan’s energy sector.
