DUSHANBE, July 22, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) – The inflation rate in Tajikistan amounted to 2.4% in the first half of 2026, which is 0.6 percentage points higher compared with the same period last year, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda said at a press conference on July 20.
According to him, the increase was mainly driven by rising prices for food products by 2.6%, non-food goods by 1.7%, and paid services by 3.8%.
Annual inflation in June 2026 remained within the lower range of the target indicator (5% ± 2 percentage points), standing at 4.1%, which is 0.5 percentage points higher than in the same period of 2025.
During the reporting period, the National Bank of Tajikistan conducted 39 auctions for the sale of securities totaling 82.5 billion somoni to regulate money supply, manage liquidity levels of credit institutions, and reduce monetary inflationary pressures.
In addition, free funds from credit institutions were attracted through overnight deposit operations, averaging 2.0 billion somoni per day.
It was noted that the refinancing rate, as a key instrument of monetary policy, was reduced by 0.5 percentage points to 7.0% per annum due to inflation remaining within the lower target range, moderate inflation expectations, and stabilization of domestic and global prices for goods and commodities.
