Tajikistan Implements 11 Transport Infrastructure Projects Worth Over $1.1 Billion

DUSHANBE, 13.07.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan is currently implementing 11 investment projects in the road and transport sector with a total value of USD 1.193 billion, Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim announced during a press conference.
According to the Minister, five of these projects worth USD 590.3 million are currently under implementation, while six projects valued at USD 602.2 million have been completed and are in the warranty period.
The financing structure includes USD 542.5 million in grants (40.99 percent), USD 200.4 million in non-repayable and technical assistance (21.37 percent), USD 342.5 million in external loans (31.38 percent), and USD 85.1 million contributed by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan (6.26 percent).
Azim Ibrohim noted that, in accordance with the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon outlined in his Address to the Majlisi Oli, construction and rehabilitation works on eight road projects with a total length of nearly 286.9 kilometers and a combined value of USD 334.9 million are scheduled to begin in 2026.
The projects include the rehabilitation of the Guliston–Kulob road section (32.2 km, USD 80 million), Baljuvon–Sarikhосor road (58 km, USD 58 million), the Murghab–Kulma section (67 km, USD 78 million), construction of three bridges on the Labijar–Sangvor route (USD 17.1 million), construction of the Kulob bypass road (11 km, USD 30 million), rehabilitation of the Vahdat–Obigarm road (70 km, USD 28.8 million), construction of the Khistevarz–Konibodom (Arka) road (9.7 km, USD 4.5 million), and the Khorugh–Roshtqala road (39 km, USD 38.5 million).
The Minister also reported that 1,053 specialists and workers are currently involved in the implementation of investment projects, including 789 Tajik citizens, who account for 75 percent of the workforce.
The projects are aimed at improving transport connectivity, upgrading road infrastructure and strengthening Tajikistan’s role as a regional transit hub.
