Trade and Economic Cooperation between Sughd and Batken Regions to Expand

DUSHANBE, July 23, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) – A meeting between Chairman of Sughd Region Rajab Ahmadzoda and the Authorized Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Batken Region Mamirjon Rahimov was held on July 21 in the city of Guliston, reports citing the press service of the Chairman of Sughd Region.
The sides discussed issues related to expanding trade and economic cooperation, implementing joint projects, exchanging experience, increasing trade turnover, and fulfilling the instructions and agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries.
It was emphasized that Sughd and Batken regions have broad opportunities for cooperation due to their geographical proximity and similar climatic conditions. In particular, the parties noted the potential for expanding collaboration in agriculture, industry, establishment of joint ventures, agricultural processing, and other priority areas.
The participants highlighted that the signing of the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship by the Presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan on March 31, 2025, in Khujand, as well as the opening of a symbolic monument at the junction point of the state borders of the three countries, marked a historic event that laid a solid foundation for strengthening peace, stability, mutual understanding, and regional cooperation.
Rajab Ahmadzoda stated that Sughd Region is currently developing rapidly within the framework of the country’s strategic goals and preparations for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence. He noted that Hundreds of new industrial enterprises have been launched across the province, producing import-substituting and export-oriented goods that contribute significantly to the development of the national economy.
Mamirjon Rahimov noted that the Batken delegation’s visit aims to strengthen interregional ties and establish new areas of economic cooperation. He emphasized that Batken Province attaches particular importance to the development of agriculture, especially livestock breeding, and expressed readiness to expand cooperation with Sughd Province in industry, agriculture, tourism, healthcare, sports, livestock breeding, and agricultural exports.
