Germany defeats Northern Ireland at the last Euro Cup 2016 group stage match
Dushanbe, 22.06.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Germany’s national football team has defeated Northern Ireland 1-0 in their group stage MD3 match of the 2016 UEFA Euro Cup tournament, TASS reports.
The game was played at Paris’s Parc des Princes stadium on Tuesday.
The goal was scored by Mario Gomez in the 29th minute.
Germany, the Group C leader with seven points, will play against on June 25 in Lille against a team snatching third place in Groups A, B or F.
Northern Ireland, which has earned three points, has a chance to be among the four third-place teams to make it to the last 16.
The 2016 UEFA Euro Cup is held in France between June 10 and July 10 with matches played in 10 different locations, namely in Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.
A total of 24 European national teams qualified for the Euro Cup final tournament in 2016, after the contestants’ format, which was used since 1996, was decided to be extended from 16 to 24 teams.
