Tajikistan condemns assassination of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov in Turkey
DUSHANBE, 20.12.2016. /NIAT «Khovar»/. Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan has strongly condemned the tragic assassination of Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, and said that the killing of the Russian Ambassador in Turkey is an inhuman act aimed at violating all norms and rules of the civilized world order.
A statement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry said, “Tajikistan and Russia share common stance on the issues related to combating challenges such as terrorism and extremism.”
Foreign minister has expressed deep condolences to the family and friends of the diplomat, who until the last minute fulfilled his duty before his country and people.
We will recall that the Russian diplomat was shot dead on Monday evening as he made a speech during the opening of a photo exhibition devoted to Russia in the Center for Contemporary Art in Turkey’s capital Ankara. The attacker was a 22-year-old police officer identified as Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş. He was killed by local security forces shortly after, Turkey’s authorities said. Three people were wounded. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said the attack on the ambassador was an act of terrorism.
