Tajik Air Plans to Update Its Fleet
DUSHANBE, 07.02.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Tajik Air is planning to update its fleet in the near future. This was provided today by the Deputy General Director of Tajik Air Azizmad Kurbonov.
«During the government meeting, President Emomali Rahmon instructed Tajik Air to purchase 2 aircraft. A study has already begun of Boeing’s proposals to consider options,» Kurbonov said.
“This week all proposals will be submitted to the government, and a decision will be made on which planes should be purchased. Accordingly, proposals for the acquisition of new generation aircraft are being considered,” Kurbonov noted.
According to him, how the purchase of aircraft will be made is still unknown, but the government has been offered 3 options.
Tajik Air currently operates flights on a Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Another aircraft — Boeing 767-300 is located in Tashkent for maintenance.
According to statistics, the Tajik Air carried 55.4 thousand passengers in 2019, which is 265.2 thousand, or 83% less than in 2018.
The airline is currently taking measures to overcome the crisis.
