Tajikistan Will Develop a National Agriculture Investment Plan

DUSHANBE, 09.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan will develop a National Agriculture Investment Plan for 2021-2030. Issues relating to the development of the plan were discussed earlier at the meeting of the Minister of Finance Fayziddin Kahhorzoda with the representative of the Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN FAO) in Tajikistan Oleg Guchgeldiev.
FAO has been working in Tajikistan since 1995, including on the basis of a Country Program developed by FAO and the government in coordination with development partners.
It is focused on achieving sustainable food and nutritional security, sustainable use of natural resources and building resilience to climate change, agricultural productivity with a focus on livestock, veterinary medicine and crop intensification.
The National Food Security Strategy and the United Nations Development Framework Program (UNDAF) for 2016-2020 are associated with FAO’s activities in Tajikistan.
Kahhorzoda expressed gratitude for the current projects, as well as for the support of FAO and other international financial organizations to prevent the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Guchgeldiev noted that FAO’s contribution to Tajikistan in 2020 amounted to $ 2.83 million, of which $ 2.16 million was realized.
