President Emomali Rahmon Receives the US Special Representative for Reconciliation in Afghanistan

DUSHANBE, 04.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the US Special Representative for Reconciliation in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad.
The current state of affairs and the restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as both regional and international matters were the focus of the meeting.
“Tajikistan supports the position of the Afghan government to ensure peace and stability in this country,» said President Rahmon.
Discussing the current security situation in the region, the officials noted the need to expand cooperation in the joint struggle against modern threats and challenges, including terrorism, extremism, illegal drug trafficking, and other transnational organized crimes.
President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan will continue to put effort into helping resolve the problems of Afghanistan and work toward its socio-economic recovery.
