Bokhtar Hosts Conference on Interregional Cooperation Between Tajikistan and Russia

DUSHANBE, 01.12.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Russian-Tajik cooperation in agriculture, industry, logistics, and the digital economy was discussed yesterday in Bokhtar during the eighth conference on interregional cooperation.
Before the conference, an exhibition of achievements of the national economy was held on the square of the Palace of Culture. National costumes, handicrafts, musical instruments, and traditional flatbread were showcased for the participants.
The conference was held in three sessions and was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports, the leadership of the Khatlon region and the city of Bokhtar, and entrepreneurs.
One of the most discussed topics was the creation of the Smart City system. The decision to implement the Smart City project was launched in 2019.
Representatives of the Russian side showed great interest in the project and demonstrated their full readiness to support its implementation.
The conference participants reported on the dynamics of trade between the two countries, the state of cooperation in modernizing the economy, and the innovative potential of both countries.
The Chairman of Khatlon Kurbon Hakimzoda noted that relations between Tajikistan and Russia are improving yearly.
He noted that the volume of exports of goods from Tajikistan this year has amounted to $901 million, which is $188.8 million more compared to the same period last year.
“Exports grew by 24%, which is very encouraging. External trade between Tajikistan and Russia has amounted to $300 million,” Hakimzoda emphasized.
Next year 6,000 Tajik children will be able to study in five Russian recently built schools in Tajikistan. Russia has allocated $150 million for the construction of these schools.
