Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Attends CIS Electric Power Council Meeting

DUSHANBE, 30.12.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On December 28, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma attended the meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council (CIS EPC) via videoconference.
The meeting was also attended by members of the CIS EPC from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The CIS Executive Committee was represented by the Director of the Economic Cooperation Department Mikhail Myskin, head of the Monetary and Financial Policy Department Aladdin Kuli-Zade, and the Advisor of the Economic Cooperation Department Andrey Ivliev.
The meeting was chaired by the President of the CIS EPC, Russian Minister of Energy Nikolai Shulginov. He delivered a greeting dedicated to the climate agenda and its impact on the economies of CIS members.
Chairman of the Coordination Council at the CIS EPC Pavel Snikkars presented a report on the prospective energy balance, highlighting the support for the development of renewable energy sources in Russia and plans for the introduction of new generating capacities.
The meeting mainly focused on decarbonization of the energy sector and managing greenhouse gas emissions in the power industry. A joint statement of the CIS EPC participants on the global climate agenda and the current policy in the CIS in this area was adopted.
The meeting participants discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of hydropower and building up the investment potential of the water and energy complex in Central Asia.
A number of documents were adopted, which were prepared during the meeting of the Coordinating Council at the CIS EPC on December 15.
The next meeting of the CIS EPC is expected to be held in Kazakhstan in May-June 2022.
