Tajikistan Ranks First Among the CIS Countries in Industrial Production Growth

DUSHANBE, 03.02.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – According to the results of 2021, Tajikistan ranked first among the CIS countries in terms of industrial production growth. This was announced on February 2 by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir.
“The industrial production volume amounted to 38.8 billion somoni, which exceeds the figure for 2020 by 23%,” he said.
According to Kabir, 32% of the total industrial output produced in the republic is from the mining industry, 20% from electricity and 19% is from food.
“Despite the coronavirus pandemic, more than 300 new manufacturing enterprises were put into operation in Tajikistan in 2021, which created 5,000 new jobs,” Kabir noted, adding that 90 enterprises were created in the light industry, 82 in food, 76 enterprises and shops for the production of building materials, 42 in the field of mechanical engineering and 4 in the coal industry.
He specified that 2,386 enterprises are currently registered in the country, of which 322 are operating seasonally, and 90 have not been inactive since the 1990s.
