Turnover of Wholesale and Retail Trade in Tajikistan Increased by 11.8%

DUSHANBE, 30.03.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The turnover of wholesale and retail trade in Tajikistan for the first two months of this year amounted to over 7.2 billion somoni (more than $559.4 million), which is 11.8% more compared to the same period in 2021, reported the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
In the reporting period, products worth more than 2.4 billion somoni were sold in the food, clothing, and mixed markets, which is 33.7% of the total volume of retail trade.
Also, in January-February 2022, the profit from the sale of animals amounted to over 595 million somoni, oil products — about 1.26 billion somoni, trucks and cars to 111.5 million somoni.
The share of food products in the total volume of trade amounted to more than 3.1 billion somoni, or 49.7%, non-food — more than 3.1 billion somoni, or 50.3%.
In percentage terms, the food group is dominated by meat and sausages, sugar and confectionery products, flour and bread, vegetables, and vegetable oil.
Among the goods of the non-food group, the largest share is accounted for by oil products, fabrics, knitwear, building materials, footwear, and electrical goods.
For the indicated period, the volume of retail trade turnover per one Tajik citizen, on average, amounted to 638 somoni.
