Foreign Trade Turnover of Tajikistan Amounts over $2.735 billion

DUSHANBE, 16.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – According to the results of 5 months of 2022, the foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to over $2.735 billion (including imports — $1.8 billion, exports — $848.2 million), having increased by 4.4% compared to the same period last year or $115.1, reported the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.
The main trading partners of Tajikistan are Russia — $611.3 million, Kazakhstan — $544.6 million, and China — $550 million.
According to the Director of the Export Agency Shavkat Bobozoda, the turnover of Tajikistan’s foreign trade in 2021 increased by almost 40 percent compared to 2020 and reached $6.4 billion.
“In 2021, the country’s foreign trade turnover amounted to over $6,359 billion, which is 39.5 percent more than in 2020,” he said.
The Director of the Agency noted that export in the structure of foreign trade turnover is 33.8 percent, import — 66.2 percent.
According to him, products worth $2.15 billion were exported from the country, which is 52.8 percent more than in 2020. In the structure of exports of industrial products, 41.7 percent of the total volume were precious metals and stones, 16 percent — minerals and concentrates, 6.3 percent — primary aluminum, 9.4 percent — cotton fiber.
In monetary terms, sales of Tajikistan’s agricultural products abroad in 2021 amounted to $36.6 million, an increase of $16.6 million compared to 2020. In total, almost 209,000 tons of agricultural products were exported from the republic in 2021.
Tajikistan mainly sends abroad precious metals, aluminum, cement, cotton, electricity, as well as fruits and vegetables. The republic often buys wheat and grain, oil products and fuel, liquefied gas, transport and technical equipment from foreign partners.
