Import of Cars to Tajikistan Increased

DUSHANBE, 15.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – This year, 21,377 cars worth $82.2 million were imported into Tajikistan, which is 4,229 cars and more than $15.5 million more than in the same period last year. This was reported to media representatives during a press conference by the Head of the Customs Service Khurshed Karimzoda.
Cars are mainly imported into Tajikistan by entrepreneurs from Europe, South Korea and Japan in transit through the Baltic countries and the United Arab Emirates.
Cars are mainly produced by prestigious companies in Germany, South Korea, Japan, such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, Genesis Motors, Renault Samsung Motors ( RSM), Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors, Ssang Yong Motor Company, Daewoo Motor, Toyota Motor Corporation, Nissan Motor Corporation, etc.
Karimzoda also added that during this period, 127 electric vehicles were imported into the country, and benefits provided to importers amounted to 90 million somoni. Meanwhile, the government has launched a program to import electric vehicles to protect the environment, prevent and eliminate air pollution and develop a «green» economy, according to which changes have been made to the country’s legislation, including the Tax Code. Based on these changes, importers of electric vehicles are provided with benefits, including exemption from customs duty and value added tax.
In Tajikistan, the production of vehicles has not been established; passenger buses, tractors and other equipment for the agro-industrial complex are assembled and repaired using spare parts at the joint ventures Akia Avesto Automotive Industry and Agrotechservice, created between Tajikistan and Turkey, Tajikistan and Belarus in the cities of Dushanbe and Hissar.
