Dutch Entrepreneurs Visit Tajikistan to Establish Cooperation

DUSHANBE, 12.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Tajik and Dutch entrepreneurs, representing the leading companies, discussed cooperation opportunities during a business forum, reports the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Tajikistan.

A trade mission of 11 Dutch companies visited Tajikistan to establish cooperation in the agricultural sector and expand the agricultural potential of Tajikistan.

The Dutch entrepreneurs met with their Tajik counterparts during B2B meetings. They also visited local agricultural enterprises.

Speaking at the business forum, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan Sadi Karimzoda noted that the organization of said meeting is a confirmation that Tajikistan is ready to establish cooperation in food security with the Netherlands.

Deputy Chairman of the CCI Nasimjon Anvarov also expressed his confidence that entrepreneurs of both countries will find business partners for themselves, and facilitate in a mutual export-import of products.

“The Netherlands is changing its policy as a major food exporter and is now focused on improving the quality and supporting food production worldwide. All conditions have been created in Tajikistan for the production of environmentally friendly products. The use of technology and equipment from the Netherlands here, on the fertile Tajik land, will significantly increase yields and increase the competitiveness of Tajik products,” said the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Tajikistan Andre Carstens.

“The trade mission will help Tajik farmers get acquainted with Dutch technologies, solutions, and consider the possibility of joint development of sustainable and profitable food production, including with the transition from traditional to modern production,” he said.

The Dutch delegation included a representatives of leading agricultural enterprises working in seed production, vegetable cultivation, poultry farming, education and training of specialists, and food distribution.

The Netherlands is three times smaller than the territory of Tajikistan, but due to the use of the latest technologies and innovations, it is the second largest exporter of agricultural products in the world. More than 70% of vegetable seeds worldwide, directly or indirectly, originate from this country.

Greenhouses in the Netherlands cover a larger area than the Sughd and Khatlon regions combined, and use advanced methods of growing vegetables and flowers with significant savings in water, energy and raw materials. A high-tech greenhouse can produce a kilogram of tomatoes using just four liters of water, compared to 60 liters used outdoors.
