Tajikistan and Turkiye Increase Foreign Trade Turnover by 17.3%

DUSHANBE, 06.05.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – In order to develop trade and economic cooperation, Tajikistan and Turkiye need to create joint industrial enterprises with the involvement of Turkiye investments. The proposal was made on May 3 during a meeting of the leadership of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade with the Ambassador of Turkiye to Tajikistan Umut Acar.
The meeting focused on the expansion of cooperation within the framework of the project «Roadmap to increase trade turnover between Tajikistan and Turkiye for 2022-2025 and the Turkiye Cooperation and Coordination Agency.
It was noted that in 2022, the trade turnover between the states amounted to $351.2 million. In January-March 2023, the volume of foreign trade turnover amounted to $98.4 million, which is $14.5 million or 17.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
The parties noted the importance of creating joint ventures for the production of textile products, processing of aluminum, wool and leather, fruits and vegetables, detergents, building materials.
