Tajik Athletes Will Take Part in the 2023 CIS Games in Belarus

DUSHANBE, 21.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – A Tajik delegation consisting of 130 athletes and coaches will take part in the II CIS Games in Belarus.
Athletes will represent Tajikistan in 13 sports, such as boxing, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, karate, athletics, sambo, streetball, swimming, archery and others.
The idea of holding the CIS Games was put forward by Russia. The proposal was supported at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in Dushanbe on September 28, 2018.
According to the organizers of this large-scale sports event, the main highlight of the II Games will be the holding of competitions in 11 cities of different regions of Belarus. The goal of the new format is to expand the geography of the tournament and bring sports in the regions to a higher level. In particular, the cities of the competition will be Minsk, Borisov, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Zhlobin, Mogilev, Molodechno, Orsha and Soligorsk.
Competitions will be held in 20 sports, including athletics, volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics, bullet shooting, beach soccer, modern pentathlon, 3 x 3 basketball, mini football, Greco-Roman, freestyle, women’s wrestling, beach volleyball, handball, swimming, Thai boxing, boxing, judo, sambo, ice hockey grass, weightlifting, archery, karate.
