DUSHANBE, 14.09.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 14, in the city residence of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon had a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, Honorable Serdar Berdimuhamedow, who arrived in Tajikistan to participate in the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Meeting of the Council of Heads of Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.

During the meeting, a range of issues of Tajikistan-Turkmenistan cooperation and the agenda of the summit of the Heads of the Central Asian States, which will be held on September 14-15 in Dushanbe, were discussed.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, welcomed the President of Turkmenistan to Tajikistan and expressed confidence that the results of the upcoming meetings will be a factor in strengthening intra-regional cooperation.

The parties reviewed issues of cooperation in the commercial and economic spheres, including increasing the volume of trade and cultural and humanitarian relations.

For the development of trade and economic relations, it was considered necessary to revive the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The parties also exchanged views on other issues of interest.
