Tajik Boxing Team Takes Part in the First World Olympic Qualifying Tournament

DUSHANBE, 04.03.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – The Tajik boxing team takes part in the first world Olympic qualifying tournament, which began in the Italian city of Busto Arsizio and will last until March 11.
The competition will involve 632 athletes, including 399 men and 233 women from 112 countries, as well as a team of asylum seekers.
The tournament will award 49 berths to the Paris Olympic Games in 13 weight categories (7 among men — 28 berths, 6 among women — 21 berths).
The Boxing Federation of Tajikistan sent a full team to Italy.
Tajikistan is represented by Ruhafzo Haknazarova in weight 50 kg, Mehron Shafiev in weight up to 51 kg, Asror Vohidov in weight 57 kg, Bahodur Usmonov in weight 63.5 kg, Shahobjon Shukurov in weight 71 kg, Shabbos Negmatulloev in weight 80 kg and Muhammad Abroriddinov in weight +92 kg.
The second and final Olympic qualifying tournament is expected to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, in May.
Currently, Tajikistan has won two Olympic berths, which were awarded to boxers Mijgona Samadova in the weight of 57 kg, and Davlat Boltaev in the weight of 92 kg at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
