Tajikistan’s Tourism Potential Presented in Tehran

DUSHANBE, 26.08.2024 (NIAT Khovar) — In order to present Tajikistan’s tourism opportunities and attract tourists, a tourism event entitled “Tajikistan — Iran Roadshow” was held at the Embassy of Tajikistan in Iran on August 24.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Iran Nizomiddin Zohidi, representatives of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism of Iran, travel agencies of Tajikistan, embassies of Central Asian countries, representatives of the media and more than 150 employees of tourism service entities of the host country.
Ambassador of Tajikistan Nizomiddin Zohidi provided detailed information on the measures of the Government of Tajikistan aimed at developing the tourism industry and the opportunities in the tourism sector.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan is a safe and peaceful state in which all opportunities have been created for receiving tourists.
Adviser to the Minister and Director of the International Department of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran Mohammad Qasimi and heads of major Iranian tourism companies expressed satisfaction with the level of multifaceted relations between the two countries.
They also expressed the readiness of the Iranian tourism sector to further expand cooperation, exchange experiences between specialists and hold joint events.
According to the General Director of Somon Travel LLC Umedjon Saidzoda, the participants were provided with information about the competitive advantages of Tajikistan, including its rich natural potential, health and wellness tourism, as well as the opportunity to engage in sports and mountaineering tourism.
“The participation of representatives of the country’s travel agencues in various tourism events abroad is considered an effective way to attract foreign tourists to the republic and creates a favorable basis for expanding cooperation between Tajik travel agencies and companies of developed tourism countries,” he noted.
The participants were shown new videos about the tourism industry of Tajikistan.
The event focused on the prospects for cooperation in the field of tourism between Tajikistan and Iran.
Following the negotiations, the travel companies of the two countries signed relevant agreements.
Upon completion, the participants were presented with national souvenirs and tourism promotional materials.
It should be noted that the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Tajikistan and Iran on the abolition of visas for holders of general civil passports entered into force on August 10.
According to this MoU, holders of general civil passports of both parties have the right to visit the territory of the parties without a visa for 90 days from the date of first entry for a period of 30 days.
At the first stage, the visa-free system will be implemented only for those who use the Dushanbe-Tehran and Tehran-Dushanbe air routes.
A similar tourist event took place on August 13 in Islamabad, following which 10 memorandums of cooperation were signed between the tourist companies of Tajikistan and Pakistan.
