Number of Preschool Institutions in Tajikistan Reaches 757

DUSHANBE, 28.07.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As of the first half of 2025, the number of preschool institutions in Tajikistan has reached 757, with a total enrollment of 118,392 children. This represents an increase of 13 institutions and 4,422 children compared to the same period in 2024, Tajikistan’s Minister of Education and Science, Rahim Saidzoda, announced at a press conference today.
«The reform of the preschool education sector continued in the first six months of 2025, with a particular focus on strengthening the legal and regulatory framework,» the Minister said.
To expand access to early childhood education, 2,931 early development centers have been established within general education institutions. These centers currently serve 133,361 children in 5,569 groups—an increase of 47 centers and 2,044 children compared to 2024.
In total, 251,753 children are now enrolled in preschool education programs nationwide, accounting for 23.7 percent of the eligible age group. This marks a 3.5 percentage point increase from the same period in 2024, when the coverage stood at 20.2 percent.
