Tajik Delegation Meets World Bank, Discusses Investment, Energy Projects and Economic Growth

As part of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Spring Meetings, a delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Hokim Kholikzoda, held a series of high-level meetings in Washington, D.C., the National Bank of Tajikistan said in a statement provided to NIAT Khovar.
On April 14, the delegation met with Antonella Bassani, World Bank vice president for Europe and Central Asia.
The sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, including attracting investment and implementing priority socioeconomic projects. The World Bank was noted as a key strategic partner contributing to structural reforms, infrastructure development, institutional strengthening and sustainable, inclusive economic growth in Tajikistan.
The implementation of major energy projects, particularly the Rogun hydropower plant, was highlighted as a key factor in advancing energy independence and supporting the development of a green economy.
Presenting the macroeconomic situation, the delegation said consistent reforms and support from international partners had helped strengthen macroeconomic stability and maintain strong economic growth. Despite external pressures, real gross domestic product growth in the first two months of 2026 reached 8%.
The sides also discussed cooperation in green finance, sustainable development, digitalization of the financial sector and financial inclusion, expressing readiness to continue long-term constructive engagement.
