Tajikistan, South Korea Plan New Road Projects and Intelligent Transport System in Dushanbe

Tajikistan and South Korea discussed expanding cooperation in transport infrastructure, including new investment projects in road transport and plans to develop intelligent transportation systems in the capital, the transport ministry said.

The talks took place between Tajik Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim and Kim Teben, head of the Railway Bureau at South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as Oh Byung-il, head of overseas projects at the Korea National Railway Corporation.

According to the ministry, the two sides are currently implementing four projects in the road transport sector and agreed to launch another project this year focused on intelligent transportation development in Dushanbe.

The meeting also addressed cooperation in training railway and metro specialists and improving the skills of railway industry workers.

They also discussed the upcoming “Central Asia + Korea” summit, scheduled for September 2026 in Seoul, which they said could further strengthen bilateral cooperation in transport and infrastructure development.

The sides proposed signing a cooperation agreement between Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport and South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the summit.
