DUSHANBE, July 20, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan and Mongolia held the inaugural meeting of their Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in Ulaanbaatar on Sunday, launching a new mechanism to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon’s state visit to Mongolia and was co-chaired by Tajik Minister of Agriculture Kurbon Hakimzoda and Mongolian Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Tsagaankhuu Iderbat.

The two sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of cooperation in trade, investment, industry, energy, transport and logistics, agriculture, food security, education, culture, youth and sports, as well as interregional cooperation.

Discussions focused on increasing bilateral trade, improving conditions for business cooperation, attracting investment, implementing joint projects in priority sectors, expanding agricultural processing, strengthening transport and logistics links, and promoting scientific and technical cooperation.

Both sides underscored the importance of the newly established commission as an effective mechanism for coordinating bilateral cooperation and advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed the protocol of the commission’s first session and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing its provisions through practical measures aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation.
