Tajikistan, China Hold 14th Intergovernmental Commission Meeting in Dushanbe

The 14th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and China was held in Dushanbe, reported Khovar, citing the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

The meeting focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation, investment and industrial development, including mining, critical and green minerals, textiles, leather and footwear, and manufacturing.

The sides also discussed establishing joint ventures, deep processing of raw materials, localizing production, introducing modern technologies, expanding agricultural exports, increasing bilateral trade, strengthening interregional cooperation and advancing ties within the Central Asia-China framework.

The ministry said bilateral trade reached nearly $2.9 billion in 2025, a 46% increase from 2024.

The sides expressed readiness to continue investment cooperation, implement joint projects of economic and social importance, develop transport infrastructure and strengthen bilateral economic ties. A protocol of the meeting was signed.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda met with Lin Ji, China’s vice minister of commerce and deputy international trade representative.

They discussed cooperation in the economic, investment, industrial, energy and transport sectors, with a focus on developing production chains from raw-material processing to finished products.

Abdurahmonzoda identified several priorities for bilateral cooperation, including attracting Chinese investment to establish joint industrial enterprises, implementing infrastructure projects in the water, energy and transport sectors, including the construction of modern roads in Dushanbe, and expanding investment cooperation.

The sides reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen trade and economic ties and implement agreements reached during the meetings. They said mutually beneficial cooperation would contribute to further development of economic relations between Tajikistan and China.
