DUSHANBE-SMART CITY. National Bank of Tajikistan supported the project plan for the development of the capital entitled “Smart City”
DUSHANBE, 15.09.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Issues related to the preparation of the Dushanbe City Infrastructure Development Plan as a Smart City were discussed at the meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Jamoliddin Nuraliev with members of the mission of the City Infrastructure for Economic Development project of the British Department for International Development. NIAT “Khovar” has been informed by the press service of the National Bank of Tajikistan.
The British mission included David Elliott, a senior private sector specialist, Nicholas Miles, head of the economic development group and Zoe Green, an urban planning infrastructure expert.
David Elliott said that the “City Infrastructure for Economic Development” program, supported by the UK Department for International Development, is aimed at the infrastructure and economic development of the Dushanbe city.
Jamoliddin Nuraliev supported the development of the country’s capital as a “Smart City” and noted such priority and urgent areas of financial development as the introduction of modern payment instruments and services, taking into account international best practices, the use of innovative solutions in the field of cashless settlements (including in outlets and public transport), the introduction and development of internet banking and mobile banking, the inclusion of measures to develop the insurance services market (including insurance services in the social sector real sector).
The meeting also discussed the possibility of expanding this project and involving other major cities of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It was noted that in the future the parties can use all available opportunities for establishing fruitful cooperation.
