More than 701,000 tourists visited Tajikistan’s capital during the first six months of 2026, marking an increase of about 61,000 compared with the same period last year, city officials said.

First Deputy Mayor Bakhtiyor Sharifi told reporters at a news conference that Dushanbe received 701,300 visitors between January and June.

Sharifi said the increase reflects continued investment in urban development, tourism infrastructure and public services, which has helped make the capital a more attractive destination for both domestic and international visitors.

According to city officials, Dushanbe has more than 2,500 tourism-related facilities and service providers, including hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues and other businesses serving visitors.

The city’s tourism development is guided by Tajikistan’s Tourism Development Strategy through 2030, which identifies Dushanbe as a key destination because of its cultural attractions, modern infrastructure and growing hospitality sector.

Officials said the steady growth in visitor numbers reflects improvements in tourism services and continued efforts to strengthen the sector. They noted that Dushanbe’s parks, gardens, tree-lined boulevards, modern architecture, peaceful atmosphere and expanding hospitality industry have contributed to its growing appeal among travelers.
