WB and IMF Assess 8.7% GDP Growth in Tajikistan as Effective

DUSHANBE, 06.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavki Zavkizoda, Executive Director of the World Bank (WB) Group for Tajikistan Katarzyna Seidel-Kurovska, and Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Tajikistan Piotr Trabinski discussed anti-crisis measures taken by Tajikistan to prevent the impact of potential risks on the national economy.
Zavkizoda noted that President Rahmon’s constructive efforts and the adoption of anti-crisis measures ensured the country’s macroeconomic stability.
WB and IMF representatives assessed GDP growth in Tajikistan at the level of 8.7% as effective.
Zavkizoda asked Seidel-Kurovska and Trabinski to assist in increasing financial support for the sectors of the national economy, as well as in providing technical assistance to strengthen the system of macroeconomic modeling and forecasting, which was met with satisfaction.
The parties expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation in reducing or preventing the impact of potential risks on the sectors of the national economy and maintaining macroeconomic stability.
